Thanks to the on going legal battle between the creators of Call of Duty and publisher Activision, new details about the next game from Halo creator Bungie have been leaked in court documents.
The new project is a sci-fi/fantasy shooter codenamed Destiny, and is set to be published by Activision. According to the LA Times, it’s due for release in fall 2013, with no less than three sequels set to follow in 2015, 2017, and 2019. Downloadable expansions are also in the works, and they have the codename Comet.
The biggest news from the leaked documents is that Destiny is in the works for not only the PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, but also next-generation consoles codenamed the Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4. Sony and Microsoft have denied that new consoles are right around the corner, but this appears to indicate that they’ll be hitting stores in late 2013.
Bungie has issued this response on its official website, where it doesn’t deny the LA Times report. The studio only confirms that it’s working on a new game, and says that official details will be revealed soon.
