Here’s the first look at Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. I think it looks pretty solid, a good mix of the comic book character we all know, and the more grounded realism that was established in Man of Steel. What do you think?
Batman v Superman opens May 6, 2016.
First of all, DC is not chancing marvel, WB is. Secondly, Just because something looks great in cartoon or drawing does not mean it looks great in real life. This is a great look. Let’s just hope she just as tough as she looks. Complain, Complain is what everybody every does. Let see you make your own justice league movie.
As a writer I would love to give that a chance…
As a DC fan and film nerd. I watch the finished product before deciding whether it’s good or not. I personally like that WB DC characters are darker and grittier and serious and try to give us the realism that the marvel films lack. You watch avengers the second time around and you notice multiple loose ends they expect the audience to overlook. That said i like marvel too but and at the end of the day they are all their own films and deserve a chance.
I love DC comics as much as I love Marvel comics. I am picky with the movies however. I have not overly enjoyed any of the X-Men, and the last Iron Man left a lot to be desired. In saying that I have been pretty disappointed in the latest DC movies, more to the point the last Batman and the Superman movies. There was a lot of BS the writers wanted us to swallow with them, more then I care to admit.
That is why I worry about this new movie coming out. I really think those are three characters that needed to flesh out and perfect on their own before throwing them into a movie. Something I don’t think DC has been doing a good job of. All three of them are Comic Icons and needed to be treated as such. Avengers was a good movie on a whole although there were parts that lacked realism and some parts that I did not like as well, however on a whole I really enjoyed it.
The thing is Marvel took the time to flesh out these characters and allowed us to get a feel for them before throwing them all together. Joss Whedon is a proven writer /director and his specialty is teams and character development, and making them work.
They are keeping the same team together from the last Superman for this Superman and I thought the story was severely lacking. And I’m sorry, I don’t like the look of the new Wonderwoman and I am still up in the air about Ben Afflick pulling off Batman, I hope he pleasantly surprises me.
I really want to see a Justice League, but I want to see a great Justice League, I just completely doubt we are going to get it. I might be pleasantly surprised, I like it when I am, but I am not holding my breath.
I agree! DC didn’t flesh out those characters. I feel like there be should have been a superman/batman film yet. I think batman should be introduced at the end of the second superman film and then a stand alone batman film that merges the two worlds. I think the problem is that they are already iconic characters. It’s becoming almost too ridiculous seeing many versions batman, superman origins every 4 or 6 years or so. The whole world knows who they are by now. Unlike Marvel where a lot of people had no idea who the first avengers were, or who the hell Loki or Thor was. Those characters needed to win the non-comicbook fans’ hearts first for an avengers film to happen.
