The original RoboCop is heading to the final frontier, again, in the next Star Trek movie.
Variety reports that RoboCop star Peter Weller will appear in the sequel to the 2009 Trek adventure. There’s no word yet on what character he’ll play, and plot details on the project are harder to find than a cloaked Romulan warbird. This won’t be Peter Weller’s first time beaming up to the Star Trek franchise. He appeared as a racist villain in several episodes of the most recent TV series, Star Trek: Enterprise.
Other actors joining the new film include She’s Out of My League leading lady Alice Eve, along with Benicio del Toro, although director J.J. Abrams has denied that he’ll play the classic villain Khan. The Star Trek sequel begins shooting next month, and will go to warp on May 17th, 2013.
