Samsung is getting in on the virtual reality craze.
The tech giant is teaming up with Oculus VR, a subsidiary of Facebook, to create the Gear VR. It’s a virtual reality headset designed to work with Samsung’s newly-announced 5.7 inch Galaxy Note 4 smartphone. By slipping the phone into the front of the headset, users will enter a virtual world where they can browse and enjoy all the movies, music, games, and other content that they have on the device. The headset doesn’t have a screen of its own, but it does have a built-in accelerometer and gyrometer that will track your head movement, and they run on the same technology as the Oculus Rift.
The Samsung Gear VR will hit stores before the end of the year. The Oculus Rift on the other hand, isn’t expected to arrive until next year. Take a look at the new device in the stills below:
A subsidiary of Facebook you say? Add that to the list of trash I won’t be touching with a 10ft pole.
