With Star Trek and Star Wars now on his resume, the only thing standing between J.J. Abrams and the title of God of the Geeks is a Half-Life or Portal adaptation. Luckily, Gabe Newell wants to make that happen.
Even Joss Whedon has to be jealous at this point.
Today’s DICE keynote saw Abrams and Newell have a conversation, with Newell expressing interest in making the potential collaboration a reality if possible. Abrams is currently a bit busy directing sequels to a couple little-known franchises at the moment, so he does have a bit on his plate. No other details were given or discussed, but the seeds were planted, and in a very public manner no less. Now it’s the internet’s job to spread rumors and create memes until Abrams eventually gives in and makes a Half-Life film.
