It looks like the long-awaited Battlestar Galactica prequel Blood and Chrome won’t be coming to television.
Syfy has reportedly decided not to develop it as a traditional, big budget TV project, and may instead turn it into a digital, web-only series with a smaller price tag. The decision was made after the Blood and Chrome pilot episode went over-budget. The network plans to air that pilot sometime later this year as a lead in to the web series.
Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome takes place before the events of the re-imagined BSG show, but after the ill-fated prequel Caprica. It’ll chronicle the first war between humans and Cylons, and focus on a younger version of Admiral Adama.
