EA’s new premium subscription service EA Access is out of beta is is now available to everyone on the Xbox One, having recently wrapped up its beta test.
For $5 a month or $30 a year, players will get access to a library of games from the publisher, starting with Madden NFL 25, FIFA 14, Battlefield 4, and Peggle 2. Members will also save 10% when they buy other EA games online, and they’ll also be able to start playing new games like NHL 15 and Dragon Age: Inquisition five days before anyone else. The beta for the service has already begun rolling out, and the full version will launch soon.
If you’re wondering why EA Access isn’t coming to the PS4, a Sony representative tells Game Informer that they were offered the service, but rejected it because it “does not bring the kind of value PlayStation customers have come to expect.” They likely didn’t think it was as good as their own subscription service, PlayStation Plus. Sony also has the cloud-based service PlayStation Now on the way.
