A bunch of big upcoming movies have been given release dates just in time for Comic-Con.
First up, Columbia Pictures has officially set the long-in-development Uncharted movie for release on June 10, 2016. The film has been in the works since the first game came out in 2007, and like the games, it will see Nathan Drake embark on one of his daring treasure-hunting adventures across the globe. There’s no official word yet on who might play Drake, but we do know that the film will be helmed by The King of Kong director Seth Gordon.
Columbia has also set their Sinister Six movie for release on November 11, 2016. The film will be a spin-off of the new Spider-Man movies, and focus on the exploits of some of Spidey’s most nefarious foes. It will be helmed by Drew Goddard, who also directed Cabin in the Woods. As for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, that will now arrive in 2018. It was originally expected to come out in 2016, which means we’ll have to wait an extra two years. This comes after The Amazing Spider-Man 2 made less than expected at the box office.
Over to another studio, Disney has inked the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie to set sail on July 7, 2017, six years after the release of the last film. Johnny Depp will be back as Captain Jack Sparrow, but no official plot details have surfaced. The film will be directed by Norwegian filmmakers Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg, who last helmed the critically-acclaimed sea movie Kon Tiki.
