Shutter Island Heading to Television

Shutter Island

Get ready to check back into the Shutter Island mental hospital.

Deadline reports that Martin Scorsese is working on a TV series based on his 2010 thriller Shutter Island. The show will be titled Ashecliffe, the actual name of the island’s mental hospital, and focus on different patients before the events of the film. It’s unclear if Leonardo DiCaprio will reprise his role, but Martin Scorsese will be back to direct the pilot episode. The script is being penned by Dennis Lehane, the author of the original Shutter Island novel.

There’s no word yet on when to expect the show to premiere. Scorsese’s other big TV series, Boardwalk Empire, is about to kick off its fifth and final season.
