SCE London’s communal karaoke music series SingStar is coming to PlayStation 4 later this year, game director Chris Bruce announced today in a post on the PlayStation Blog.
Bruce also announced that a SingStar companion app for smartphones and tablet devices is also in the works and will be compatible with both PS3 and PS4 versions of the game. Little else is known about the app beyond that it will allow players to build personal playlists.
In addition to the PS4 version and companion app, London Studios is working on improvements to the social experience of Singstar by implementing ways to upload performances to Twitter or Facebook directly to the game.
The SingStar director promised “more details over the coming months” in future posts to the PlayStation Blog. The last entry in the series to grace North America was 2010’s SingStar Dance. SingStar: Back to the 80s launched exclusively in Europe in 2011. Both games were PS3-only.
