Sonic the Hedgehog is heading to your local movie theatre.
SEGA is joining forces with Sony Pictures to create a big screen movie based on the beloved video game hedgehog. The film will be a combination of live action and computer animation, which means we’ll get to see an animated Sonic interact with real actors. There’s no word yet on who will star in the film, but we do know that it’s being produced by Neal H. Moritz, who also produced 21 Jump Street and the Fast and the Furious franchise.
Sonic will get his own animated TV series this fall called Sonic Boom, which has a game tie-in coming to the Wii U this November. Sony Pictures is already working on big screen adaptations of other games like Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, The Last of Us, and Gran Turismo.
