Starz Wants Nail Gaiman’s American Gods

Neil Gaiman at SDCC REVISED

Starz has announced that it’s developing a pilot based on Neil Gaiman’s award-winning fantasy novel American Gods. First published in 2001, the book chronicles a battle between different gods in the present day, and features a unique blend of ancient and modern mythology. The book has a large fan following, so the makers of the show have their work cut out for them. Gaiman himself is serving as producer, along with Hannibal producer Bryan Fuller and Heroes writer Michael Green.

Starz isn’t the first network to be interested in bringing American Gods to the airwaves. HBO was interested in the book at one time, and there have also been rumours of a big screen adaptation several times over the years.
