The Borgias Cancelled

The Borgias

There’s some bad news for anyone who likes their historical drama with plenty of blood, sex, and sadism.

Showtime has cancelled The Borgias, and it will not be back for a fourth season. That means the upcoming third season finale will have to double as a series finale, but despite the short notice, the show’s creator Neil Jordan promises that it will bring the story to a fitting conclusion. It hits the airwaves on June 16.

The Borgias features Jeremy Irons as the ruthless Rodrigo Borgia, also known as Pope Alexander VI. He was easily one of the most bloodthirsty and manipulative men in history, using the Vatican to set up his own dynasty and empire during the 15th century. If his name sounds familiar, it might be because Borgia was also featured as the main villain the Assassin’s Creed II.
