I hope you’re not tired of vampires, because FX has officially renewed The Strain for a second season. It will consist of 13 episodes, with shooting slated to begin later this year and a premiere slated for Summer 2015.
Produced by Pan’s Labyrinth and Pacific Rim director Guillermo del Toro, The Strain is based on a series of novel that del Toro co-wrote which tells the story of an infectious disease turning people into vampires. There’s plenty of blood and gore, along with the same kind of stylish and creepy imagery that del Toro uses in his films. FX says that the pilot episode was the highest rated new cable show this year, and the best in the network’s history.
FX has also announced that the entire first season of The Strain will hit Blu-ray on December 2. You can learn more about the show by watching our interview with co-star Natalie Brown by clicking here.
